Bar Security?
KXLY reports that a handful of downtown Coeur d'Alene bars will be boosting their security by using handheld metal detectors on patrons as they enter, refusing entry to armed customers, and calling police if a weapon is found.
These security measures aren't in place at all local bars, and even the ones that have instituted the metal detectors won't be using them 100% of the time: the scanners will only be used on weekends.
These measures are being taken, in part, because of recent violence that has occurred outside of Coeur d'Alene bars, including the most recent incident last December when a local businessman with a concealed carry permit fired in self defense on two men who were threatening him.
