Driving Stupid
Today, it took me nearly an hour to drive home from work. I suppose that this isn't an enormous amount of time to some, but perhaps you'll understand my frustration when I tell you that it usually takes me twenty minutes to get from my home to Hayden.
Prairie Avenue is now tied with Spokane Street for my vote of worst possible road to ever exist. I thought my teeth would come flying out of my head by the time all was said and done. I'm pretty sure I saw some people lining up for a pool party along some of the ruts, and why not? They've got to be at least six feet deep. It's completely ridiculous. Chalk it up to our fabulous plowing crews, I suppose.
Oh, but it's not entirely their fault. Mother Nature doesn't seem to want to play nicely this year.
Yet, it really wasn't the ruts or the snow or the ice that set my temperature rising this evening. It's the idiots who drive like they own the road. I'm sorry, but there simply isn't anything else to call them. They think that they're invincible with their four-wheel drives. I had about half a dozen of them pass me today, and I can assure you that they were over the normal speed limit, which is 45 mph. Point made - only an idiot would drive that fast.
Two of them fishtailed, which I thought was justice in action. Then, somewhere between Huetter and Meyer, one of them stopped. Just stopped. There was no accident in front of him. He just got out of his truck and walked around for a bit. He got back in, went forward about two feet, and proceeded to get back out and walk around some more. What the heck?
I wanted to weep with joy when I finally pulled into my garage. My arms were sore from straining against the wheel and my mind was full of righteous insults to fling at the guy who felt like going for a stroll.
People, slow down and quit driving stupid. Don't wear your stilettos instead of snowboots. Don't go 60 mph on icy roads. Don't be a hazard to those around you. It's simply common sense. Oh, and if you choose to get out of your car and take an evening stroll, keep in mind that you're worth 20 points.

I agree totally!
Prairie Avenue is in terrible shape due to the weather, I agree. Of course, most of the roads in CDA and Post Falls have been in terrible shape the past few weeks too.
I have pulled, pushed, or dug several cars out of snow banks...simply because people were driving way too fast. It's hard for me to not stop and help...regardless of their foolishness. There is MUCH wisdom in your advice. SLOW DOWN FOLKS!!!
