Mayor Sandi Bloem appointed a committee of 21 people, along with design professionals to conceptualize the changes. Today is the first time these plans have been made fully public, although the steering committee has been meeting for several months. The committee consists of a number of city officials including the mayor herself, a member of the city council, members representing the various commissions and departments concerned with parks and recreation, a representative from the Coeur d'Alene resort, amongst others. A full list of Steering Committee members can be found on the McEuen Park website.

The proposed plan includes a large water feature south of 4th Street, as well as other smaller water features like a waterfall at the redesigned 3rd St. entrance to Tubbs Hill and a splash pad. The current Veteran's Memorial will be moved to a new location.

The plan adds additional green space to the area, increases parking, and removes the baseball and softball diamonds. The 3rd Street Boat launch will also be removed.

The proposed changes include plans for a skate park as well as bocce ball, tennis, pickle, and basketball courts.

You can provide your feedback about the plans at the McEuen Park Facebook Page or at at 6 p.m. on January 6, when a public meeting will be held on the North Idaho College campus.
