Top of China Buffet

So I'm a bit of A food addict, and out of all the many food choices in this world, the one that entices me most is Chinese food, so believe me when I say that if I come across a buffet style Chinese restaurant it's very difficult for me to stay away. It's probably for this reason that I keep coming back to the Top of China Buffet.

Unfortunately, as Chinese food goes, Top of China is not one of the best. It's not even very good. They have a decent selection of the standards. "General Chows Chicken" and "Mu shoo Pork" abound but it all seems to be cooked in the same pot and separated afterward. Even though I've eaten here at least a dozen times over the past few years, I can't think of a single dish to recommend. I will tell you to avoid the sea food as best you can. I've gotten physically sick more than once due to some rogue crab legs.

I really do hate being ALL negative in reviews so I'll give them this. They have gotten better in just about every way since they opened their doors about 10 or so years ago. The selection is increasing, and the quality of the food seems to get better every few years. They're also reasonably priced for all you can eat.

If Top of China would just update their interior and exterior to a more authentic Chinese theme (from their current decrepit 80's theme) and hire a better cook, this place could be great. Until then, keep searching for a good Chinese buffet and please let me know when you find one.

Chinese food in CdA

I've yet to eat any quality, authentic Chinese food in Coeur d'Alene. We have some good sushi places, I've heard good things about the Thai food around here, but nothing in the way of Chinese. In fact, the last good, authentic Chinese I can recall having anywhere in Idaho was at a restaurant in Nampa--the Hong Kong--which has been there forever.

Canton Restaurant

I thought Canton had pretty decent Chinese food. Down on 3rd St in between Lakeside and Sherman
